Role of Filter Connector in the Design of Electromagnetic Compatibility

Interference source, coupling path, sensitive equipments shall be considered when designing electromagnetic compatibility, filter connector is the best solution for coupling path.

1.Structure

Although inner structure of filter connector is various, the key point is filter capacitor, passive filter network, which is composed by complicated inductive capacitors; the outer structure is nearly same and compatible with common connector, the only difference is filter connector only allow part of frequency bands.

2.Filter feature

Normally it is low-pass filter connector.

3.Filter

There are many pins in filter; signal from different signal line shall be same and not affected by filter pins.

4.Notice for processing

Filter capacitor material is ceramic, disadvantage of this material is cannot withstand high temperature, shock and pressure, so when application and soldering, don’t put the iron in one pin for a long time, shock and pressure problem can be avoid as filter connector will be sealed and with metal outer shell before delivery.

5.Notice for designing

Choose filter contacts and assembly on metal outer shell will make filter function better.
